2016’s Best Travel Destinations

Many people make a resolution in the new year to travel more, but sometimes it can be hard to travel. Money and time come into play when deciding to take a trip, as many mystical locations require more time than just a weekend has to offer. If you made it a goal to travel more in 2016, here are just a few of the best travel destinations to get you started.

Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro in Brazil is an incredibly beautiful area and is receiving a lot of hype because the city is the host for the upcoming 2016 Olympic Games. There are several beautiful beaches and gardens. In most neighborhoods in the city you will find locals dancing in the streets, while enjoying amazing food. Probably one of the most important locations you can visit when in Rio is the Christ the Redeemer statue. This statue of Jesus Christ with his arms outreached is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is an absolute must see when you are visiting Rio.

The city of Sydney in Australia is a place to visit if you want a carefree vacation experience, much like Chicago. Australian locals are said to be extremely laid back, which can be a world of difference from what Americans are used to. When people think of Sydney their vision flashes to the popular Sydney Opera House, which is used for a variety of performing arts. If you are on the adventurous side, then you can climb the famous Harbour Bridge, which takes you 134m above sea level to gain an incredible view of Australia. Don’t forget to visit neighborhoods of Sydney to get a taste of the local cuisine, and do some shopping (or browsing).

Las Vegas

Las Vegas is an accessible place to most people in the United States, and is a must see location. There is always so much hype about Las Vegas because it is known for gambling and alcohol. However, there is so much more to Vegas than just that. Over that past few years, Vegas has become known for its spectacular shows, such as Cirque du Soleil and Zumanity. Vegas also offers hundreds of dining locations with great views of the city. The bright lights of the city at night is something you need to see, and the Fountains at the Bellagio provide a water show spectacular when the sun goes down. Just make sure you don’t gamble all of your money in the first hours of being in Vegas, otherwise you might need to rely on emergency loans to get you through the rest of your trip.

Bora Bora

Bora Bora is a small island just Northwest of Tahiti, and is known for being a tropical paradise. Although extremely pricey, Bora Bora is probably a top, bucket list location. If you want to plan a vacation there, the best time to visit is between December and March when room rates are discounted. The most visited location on the island is Matira Beach, which is the only publicly accessible beach. You can see right through the clear water or sink your feet into some of the softest sand you have ever felt. This is definitely a place you come to simply sit back, relax, and take a break from a fast paced lifestyle.
